This article covers some advanced programming with the 2GIG Smart Thermostat.

Z Wave Plus V2 Quick Guide


1. Before removing the old thermostat, cut power from furnace/air handler via breaker, or disconnect.  


2. Install new sub base, conventional wiring: 

  • Red-R, 
  • Green-G, 
  • White-W1, 
  • Yellow- Y1. 
  • If no "C' wire is present, use supplied batteries.


3. Default program settings are for conventional systems. No changes needed.

Heat Pump w/ Aux Heat


  1. The Heat Pump wiring should be as follows: 
    • Red-R
    • Green-G
    • Yellow-Y1
    • Orange- O/B
    • White-AUX/E
    • C (color varies)
  2. Push and hold MODE Button until you see SETUP on the screen. 
  3. Use Up/Down buttons to find SYSTEM, then push FAN (Select) button.
  4. Use Up/Down buttons to find the SYSTEM TYPE option, then push FAN (Select) button.
  5. Use Up/Down buttons to find the HEAT PUMP option.
  6. Push FAN (Select) button to choose the HEAT PUMP option, then push MODE (Done) button to save.


Reversing Valve (O/B)

  1. Push and hold MODE Button until you see SETUP on the screen. 
  2. Use Up/Down buttons to find SYSTEM, then push FAN (Select) button.
  3. Use Up/Down buttons to find CHANGEOVER TYPE option. Press FAN (Select) button. 
  4. Use Up/Down buttons to find the WITH HEAT or WITH COOL option, depending on the make of the unit. 
  5. Cycle the unit on and if running "backwards" switch selection. 
  6. Press MODE (Done) button to save. 


Aux Heat Enable

  1. Enter initial programming, press and hold the MODE button for 5 seconds until you see SETUP on the screen.
  2. Continue with Up or Down buttons to AUX HEAT ENABLE, followed by pressing Select button.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow buttons until you see 'Y', press Select again to lock in the choice.
  4. Press Done to save.


Heat Stage 2 On Threshold

  1. Enter initial programming, press and hold the MODE button for 5 seconds until you see SETUP on the screen.
  2. Continue with Up or Down buttons to HEAT STAGE 2 ON THRESHOLD, followed by pressing Select button.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow buttons until you see 'Y', press Select again to lock in the choice.
  4. Press Done to save.


NOTE: If you are using a C wire, the thermostat will not work with batteries. Remove batteries and rely on transformer to power the thermostat.
